Family will go to Bahamas for hearing

THE family of a toddler killed by an out-of-control speedboat will be travelling to the Bahamas, where the tragedy happened.

Paul, Andrea, Heather and Andrew Gallagher are to attend the court hearing for the three men charged with the manslaughter through negligence of two-year-old Paul Gallagher.

They will be at Nassau Magistrates' Court on April 13 when the boat driver and owners of the craft which hit Paul will appear.

The youngster died after being hit by an unmanned, unlicensed and unregistered speedboat which mounted the beach as he slept.

Following almost five years of campaigning, charges were brought in January against boat driver James Bain and its owners, Clifford Nottage and Evangeless Williamson.

The men were bailed ahead of their April court date as the evidence against them is considered.

Holiday firm Thomas Cook, who the Gallaghers used for their initial holiday to the Bahamas in 2002, is paying for their flights, and the Atlantis Resort, where Paul was struck, is providing their accommodation.

News Shopper has been campaigning for Justice for Paul since February last year.
