Capel Manor farm opening delayed
The opening of Capel Manor's farm in Crystal Palace Park is likely to be delayed until January.
Steve Dowbiggin, chief executive of Capel Manor College, said most of the animals had been rehoused to the teaching farm but admitted the main building was not yet finished.
"The refurbishment is going well but is slightly behind due to asbestos and problems with foot and moth, which restricted the transport of animals to the site," he said. "We plan to open to the public in the new year. "

The farm was supposed to open in September 2007, now it is "delayed until the new year" ... it's February 2008 and it still hasn't opened. When will Capel Manor/Bromley Council/the London Development Agency tell the public what is going on? Has public money been spent, once again, on a project at this site which is never going to materialise?

The family went along - as we regularly do - to see the progress of the much-mooted farm.
This was last Monday, 14th April 2008. Hoorah! Two animals were in evidence. At this rate the full complement will be in place by the end of the century.
I only hope that when we wake up we shall not have missed it.
Joseph Paxton would have had a fit!
