STUDENT Philip Poru was shot in the chest in Plumstead in October 2007.
The 18-year-old was shot as he sat in a silver Ford Fiesta in Plumstead at around 10pm on October 14.
Residents reported hearing several shots fired and said the area had got worse in the past few months.
A post-mortem examination revealed the 18-year-old died of gunshot wounds to the chest.
Mr Poru had just started a joint honours degree in media and cultural studies with television and new broadcasting media at Kingston University when he was killed.
In November last year, News Shopper reported how a memorial portrait was being painted of Mr Poru for Kingston University.
The shooting was investigated by Operation Trident, which looks into gun crime in the black community.
