The green light has been given for a new dessert restaurant to be built in Bexleyheath town centre.

Bexley Council approved an application to change a empty unit in Broadway into another dessert shop - this time selling waffles and crepes.

The new dessert shop, a Kaspa's Dessert Parlour, will be installed in the unit formerly occupied by Julia Cosmetics, and before that it was a Blockbuster.

The chain sells gelato, waffles, crepes, milkshakes and sundaes and will be open from 10am until 11pm.

Kaspa's said in its application: "A culture has very rapidly developed among young people, students and families, where they go out for the evening to have a dessert."

There is already a dessert parlour in Bexleyheath Broadway, with one recently closing, as pointed out by objections to this application.

Two speakers objected to the application at a planning committee meeting last week, January 18, but the council approved the application subject to sound insulation being installed.

There will be eight to 10 full time staff and a further 30-35 part-time store.
