Wiggly Wild Show scoops Best of Lewisham Business award and Women in Business Award Finalist in one week.

Last week was a busy one for local bug wrangler Cairis Hickey, owner of the Wiggly Wild Show having two business awards ceremonies to attend.

Normally this insect friendly business-woman is found in a school or nursery feeding animals beetle larvae, rather than eating canapes with the Mayor, but the business won Best of Lewisham due to their shining endorsements from the school children within the borough.

"My favourite animal was the hissing cockroach I held it and tickled my arm" wrote one year 3 pupil at Sandhurst Primary School.

Only three days later Cairis was in central London as a finalist for the Forward Ladies Women in Business Award.

Cairis was delighted to have received recognition for her commitment to being an ambassador of Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) in schools, especially for a business started only 3 years ago and with a major motorcycle accident only months after going Self Employed. "Its wonderful to get acknowledgement for the volunteering I do as a STEM Ambassador, and the hard work I've put into the business and local community in the last 3 years. By the time I've finished every child in SE London and Kent will adore bugs!"

Cairis even managed to get the Mayor to hold a giant stick insect pictured above.
