HOSPITALS are to get matrons to help improve cleanliness and quality of patient care.
From this month (May), there will be 20 matrons in post at the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough and at Orpington Hospital.
To create the roles Bromley Hospitals' NHS Trust will convert existing posts into matron positions.
Matrons will wear royal purple uniforms or white tunics with royal purple epaulettes.
The trust's nurse director, Jennie Hall, said: "The whole aim of creating these new matron roles is to improve the patient experience.
"They will also support the work done around cleanliness and continuing to drive down infection control rates."
