Question mark over why driver fled crash

POLICE are looking for a man who was involved in a car crash outside a college this morning (May 8).

A red Peugeot 306 and a black Ford Mondeo were in collision near Kemnal Technology College and the Peugeot's driver left the scene shortly afterwards.

The car had not been reported stolen or missing so officers are making enquiries about why the man fled from Sevenoaks Way, on the border of Bromley and Sidcup.

No-one needed to be cut out of the vehicles and a fire engine drove away shortly after arriving at the incident.

An 11-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the Mondeo, hurt his head and was treated by an ambulance crew but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Ambulance staff treated a 13-year-old bystander for shock and she was taken to Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, as a precaution.

The Peugeot was taken away and the road was reopened at 10.10am.

I,m not surprised that yet another accident has happened here, somebody wrote off my car a couple of years ago at this point because they were trying to get their child as close to the school entrance as possible. The school recently started to put a no u turn bollard at the gate way but i have not seen it this week and have also experianced stroppy parents pushing their way into and out of the gateway. There is a back gate to this school but that would mean a longer wait in traffic for this people.

Wishing this young girl a speedy recovery.

My son attends Kemnal Technology College, and although the majority of parents who drop/collect their sons use the back entrance in The Avenue, even some of these drop/collect and even wait on the yellow hazard lines, congesting the residential road and causing havoc for other road users. Heaven forbid they should make their sons walk 20 metres extra to their lift home! What sort of standard are those parents who illegally park setting their children? Mind you, they are normally the "I'll park/do what I like" brigade who have no respect for anyone else anyway!

Hope the poor young girl and the others involved are all ok. I am not blaming anyone but lets face it when SOME parents are dropping their children off at school they have no thoughts for other people as long as its quicker and easier for them.

I wonder if it has occurred for the police to check the insurance details of the driver who fled the scene.

As far as the school is concerned, I agree with Pauline's "I'll park/do what I like" comment about some of the parents. They are just “posh trash” who think that buying a 4x4 on a remortgage makes them better while in reality their underclass manners are even more clearly visible than before.

Oh yes but dont forget mums with 2 children must have a 4x4!! I must admit i hate people who big cars but then dont know how to drive them or now the size of their car and they only get them in the first place as a fashion item i wonder how many times they actually use the 4x4 for what its meant for off roading!!

When do they realise that a 4x4 is as passe as a fashion accessory as a burberry cap. These ladies are are more Vicky than Victoria.

Jill they must have a 4x4 though because they have 2 children and to fit all their shopping in ha ha. If you want a 4x4 fine just learn how to drive one properly and know the width of your car so you dont hold everyone up while you faff about
