Orpington van driver in hospital after Mayfield Avenue lamp post crash

AN INJURED van driver had to be taken to hospital this morning (October 21) after his vehicle hit a lamp post in Orpington and then overturned.

The 41-year-old man was driving along Mayfield Avenue at around 2.30am when the accident happened.

Emergency services were called to the scene and firefighters worked to free the man who sustained injuries to his chest, neck and legs.

He was given a neck brace and put on a stretcher before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road was said to have been closed for around four hours.
