NO COLD calling zones across Bromley are set to be revamped and extended as part of a two year programme to tackle crime against elderly and vulnerable people.

New signs will be put up in the 25 zones across the borough telling people the homeowners do not want to be troubled by cold callers.

And other streets are encouraged to get in touch with the council if they want to become a no cold calling zone.

Portfolio holder for public protection and safety Councillor Tim Stevens said: “The main purpose of setting up the zones is to empower residents to say no to cold callers and also to look out for those in the community who may be particularly vulnerable. "

If you suspect someone is a rogue trader call the trading standards rapid response team on 07903 852090. The zones were started by Bromley Council six years ago.
