A SUPERMARKET raised £327 for a hospice charity through a fancy dress tombola event.

Sainsbury’s in Penge High Street Road held the fundraiser on September 7 as part of a number of events to support St Christopher’s Hospice.

Fancy That 'n' Party, in Maple Road, Penge, donated costumes to help employees inspire customers to raise money.

The day marked the start of a year-long partnership with the charity which helps dying people and those close to them access appropriate care and support.

Sainsbury's Penge store manager Nick Barnes said: "St Christopher’s Hospice is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud the first event was a success."

The Sainsbury's Local Charity partner scheme started in 2009 and last year supported more than 1,000 organisations across the UK giving more than £1.5million.
