Breast cancer awareness month launched in The Glades
BREAKTHROUGH Breast Cancer promoted an awareness campaign to shoppers yesterday.
Around 30 of the charity’s staff spoke to people in The Glades shopping centre, in Bromley High Street, Bromley, and were joined by ITV's Dr Hilary Jones.
The organisation has launched a new Touch Look Check (TLC) guide to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It is hoped that by promoting the TLC message, it will encourage women to touch their breasts, look for any changes and get any unusual symptoms checked by their GP.
New research conducted by the charity has revealed only two per cent of women in Great Britain can name five warning signs of the illness.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer ambassador Bernie Nolan said: "People assume finding a lump is the only way to spot breast cancer but that’s not the case."
