Police appeal for help to find missing Belvedere girl who frequents Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich areas

POLICE are appealing for assistance in tracing a missing teenager from Belvedere.

Melissa Attard has not been seen since she said she was going to Franks Park at about 4pm yesterday afternoon (September 28).

The 14-year-old is white, around 5ft 5in tall and medium build and when last seen her dark auburn/brown hair was worn up in a bun.

She was wearing a black three quarter length black coat, black leggings, black Ugg type boots and was wearing a silver chain with lots of hearts on it and had baby pink nail varnish on.

She is known to frequent the Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich, Southwark and Lambeth areas, as well as possibly Finsbury Park and Camden.

Officers are concerned for her safety and her welfare.

Anyone who has seen Melissa or knows where she is should call police on 101, or the Missing Person Unit on 020 8284 9111.

its only been since yesterday... if she always vanishing, parents need to keep her under control more.... why is a 14 year old allowed to visit so many different areas? i got a 14 year old, and he is on a very tight reign... not because i don't trust him, but he is young and does not need so much freedom.. look how a kid was murdered the other week !!

the parents, grand parents need to control this 14 yr old... seems she rules the family & does as she feels... she has apparently run away on numerous occasions, so why is she still given freedom.. if she was mine, she would come home from school & not allowed out again til next morning for school... weekend spend indoors... & when she protests at why i'm doing this, because you can't be trusted. the family obviously still give her pocket money too, stop that and take away the freedom bus pass..

yep.. fully agree here... put her into care, her freedom needs to be taken away... her age is still a kids age, but she wants to play with the big boys! she obviously has a social worker, due to the previous vanishing, so why oh why is the social worker not doing their job!

obvious girl now has a social worker, from previous running away... .. so she can tell the social worker her problems... does she look scared and timid to you? no didn't think so.. she hates rules,all teenagers do, but most of them don't run away...

I didn't know this paper was read by so many professionals in the field of childcare, social work and family mediation. Lucikly there are people who won't have the knee jerk reaction that appear so many times in this paper. Those people thankfully have opinions based on greater insight than what 'people have said around the school' or guessing that she must have been abused at home just from a simple plea to help find her.

Everyone's an expert. If only it was that easy to monitor your childs whereabouts 24/7 and stop them going to places and with people that you don't approve of.

I wonder if some of the comments above are actually from people with kids!!!

This girl is vulnerable and needs to be found.

Again, she has been found safe and sound, thankfully. Something really needs to be looked into with this young girl. It may not be her fault. There may be issues at home. It needs to be got to the bottom of. No one wants anything bad to happen to a young girl of 14 but every time she goes missing it sounds to me a bit like a cry for help. It may be one day like a cry wolf situation and people may not be so quick to help or look for her.

i am allowed to read this and comment just like everyone else.... she is an attention seeker, no problems in doors, must have a social worker for all the other times she run away... social worker would have removed her, if they thought she was in danger.... and yes, when she vanishes again, and gets in the paper, i shall comment.. and yes i do have 2 teenagers, and yes i know exactly where they are always!! and 1 don't have mobile, as he does not want 1 .. my kids are under control.

Yes Marty, it appears she is now venturing further afield. Last time she disappeared she pitched up in Plumstead! Who knows where next time.

I just hope people commenting on here before about her just being a vulnerable child will put this girl into context with a tiny wee girl still missing in Wales. :(

lol, her family can not control her!! she runs away as she does not like rules... social services need to get involved, if they are already involved they're doing a crap job... chain her to the radiator, then she can't disappear again lol..
