OUTDOOR gyms have been opened in two of Bromley's parks to encourage more people to visit and to lead healthier lives.

They have been set up in Betts Park, Anerley, and Farnborough Recreation Ground, Farnborough, and include similar equipment to indoor gyms.

If the pilot is successful then the scheme could be expanded to other parks across the borough.

Executive assistant for the environment Councillor Peter Fortune said: “There are many reasons to visit the local park and this is one more reason.

“There are obvious health benefits of using this equipment but we hope that this will encourage more people to use their local green space and the more this happens, the more people can get involved in what is going on within the wider setting of the park.”

The project follows support from Friends of Parks groups and other organisations.
