National Sugar Art Association's Kent Group holds exhibition
2:50pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Bromley By David Mills
FLOWERS and sugar came together in a picturesque exhibition of a unique craft.
The Kent Group of the National Sugar Art Association held its ninth biennial Flowers and Sugar Art exhibition in the Great Hall at Bromley Civic Centre.
The four clubs involved in organising the event were the West Wickham Sugarcraft Club, Bexley Sugarcraft Club, Kentish Oak Cake and Craft Club and Swale Sugar Art.
Exhibits included delicate sugar flowers, wired and moulded items, chocolate work and skilfully decorated cakes made for every kind of celebration.
In addition to the basics of royal icing and sugar paste, many mediums of sugarcraft were used in creating the exhibits.
Various tables were also displaying the latest craft ideas and equipment, second hand books and raffles and tombola.
Proceeds went to the charities Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Kent Air Ambulance Trust.
