Magpie Dance to premiere Edward Scissorhands adaptation
2:13pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Bromley By David Mills
A DANCE company for people with learning disabilities is to premiere its new work based on the fairy tale classic Edward Scissorhands.
The Ed Effect, performed by Bromley-based charity Magpie Dance, is the headline act at The Churchill Theatre's Big Dance Fest at 7.45pm on July 13.
The dancers will also be strutting their stuff at the Big Dance Carnival in Crystal Palace Park at 5.30pm on July 22.
In collaboration with charitable company, Re:Bourne, the dance work is inspired by Matthew Bourne's adaptation of the Tim Burton story Edward Scissorhands.
Founder and artistic director of Magpie Dance Avril Hitman said: "The artist exchange was essential for both companies to learn about each other’s creative practices, and for the Re:Bourne artists to understand how we work inclusively with learning disabled dancers."
