A screen grab of the app
FANCY catching a rioter using your phone? There's an app for that.
The Met Police have launched a piece of phone software called Facewatch which allows people to enter their postcode and see all the unidentified CCTV images from last summer's riots relating to their area.
If an image is known to the viewer they have the opportunity to enter the name or address of the person shown - information which is then sent immediately and confidentially to the police.
The free app download is available at the Apple App Store, Android Google Play and Blackberry App World.
Police have uploaded 2,880 riot images which are also available to view on people's computers at facewatchid.co.uk
Crimes like shoplifting and antisocial behaviour are also being targeted in the same way.
