A MAN accused of murdering a father-of-three in Orpington has appeared in court.

Liam Smith, aged 25, of Thorndon Close, St Paul's Cray, was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on September 19.

He is charged with the murder of James Harris-Durkin, who died on June 5 following a Diamond Jubilee celebration barbecue.

Mr Harris-Durkin, 21, was found suffering with a head injury in Court Road, Orpington, at around 3am that day.

Smith is also charged with perverting the course of justice, along with Leanne Turner, aged 25, also of Thorndon Close.

Turner has been granted conditional bail and is also due to appear at the Old Bailey on September 19.

Both appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court yesterday
