A 30-YEAR-OLD has been found guilty of stabbing two men after an argument over weights at a gym.
James Campbell, of Bayes Close, Sydenham, knifed Jason Thompson and Joe Chapple at The Bridge leisure centre in Kangley Bridge Road, Sydenham, in January.
Woolwich Crown Court had heard how, after a row about a weights machine, Campbell pulled out a blade, stabbed Mr Thompson and then chased him around the gym.
Joe Chapple, who was today commended by Judge Michael Topolski for his bravery, was also stabbed as he tried to intervene. He was fit enough to return to work one month after the incident.
Campbell, who claimed to be acting in self defence, was convicted of wounding with intent and carrying an offensive weapon.
He will be sentenced on June 29.
