CCTV images have been released after a man whipped a woman with his dog’s lead on a train.

The 31-year-old victim, from Beckenham, had been travelling with her boyfriend on the London Bridge to Hayes service when they noticed a man playing loud music.

Her boyfriend approached the suspect, who was accompanied by a pit bull type dog, and politely asked him to turn down his music.

After heated words were exchanged the man flicked his dog chain at the woman, whipping her hand as the train pulled into Catford Bridge station.

The incident took place on the train which left London Bridge at 11.21pm on April 4.

Investigating officer PC Keef Cook says officers have carried out enquiries including viewing CCTV and circulating the images on police intelligence systems.

They are now calling on the public’s help to identify the man pictured in the CCTV.

PC Cook said: “The victim suffered minor bruising as a result and was left clearly shaken by what had taken place.

“Although these types of incidents are rare on the network, we take them very seriously and will do everything we can to catch the man responsible.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 405040 and quote reference B6/LSA of 11/5/12 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

I feel sorry for the woman who was injured but why did her boyfriend approach the low life in the first place? Asking for trouble!
