Firefighters cut out car driver after crash in Copers Cope Road, Beckenham

A DRIVER is in hospital following a crash in Beckenham this morning (April 10) which left him trapped in his car.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Copers Cope Road at around 11.30am and firefighters used specialist equipment to cut him out of his vehicle.

He was then taken to Lewisham Hospital by ambulance.

It is not yet known whether anyone in the other car was injured in the collision.

The road was closed from the junction of Beckenham High Street to the junction of Southend Lane and one lane has now been reopened.

There have been no arrests.

I find it unbelievable that there are no lights at the Copers Cope Road corner or at the Park Road intersection despite there being frequent accidents and near misses and yet there are lights where there isn't even an intersection so that drivers can turn into Waitrose more easily!
Surely there could be a turning lane there and then the lights should be relocated to the Copers Cope Road intersection.

...our residents group has been campaigning for this for a very long time - nowt done... it doesn't help with that little soccer team crystal palace having their 'training ground' in our road - they come tearing out onto copers cope road after a few hours of so called 'training' ...where on earth are they all rushing to ? the brickies public house ?? rofl!!
