Driver’s anger at school’s response (From News Shopper)

A PERSONAL trainer is demanding a principal takes responsibility for a gang of pupils which threw a rock at his van.

Carl Miller says he was driving along Centre Common Road, Chislehurst, when he heard a rock hit his windscreen.

He stopped and confronted a group of children standing on the side of the road.

Mr Miller claims they started to swear at him before one of them threw another rock, which hit his arm.

The 37-year-old recognised their uniforms as being from Coopers Technology College and tried to call the principal there, Robert Dilley.

But he says he was left disgusted with the response he received from the school in Hawkwood Lane, Chislehurst, on October 5.

The father-of-two says he was told Mr Dilley was busy with a meeting and preparation for the school's open day.

He says he was not even given any assurance someone from the school would investigate the incident.

Mr Miller, of Springfield Gardens, Bromley, said: "If the school had said it was dealing with it I would not have reported it to the police.

"They never had the decency to apologise.

"Are they waiting for when someone gets seriously injured?

"The noise could have given an old dear a heart attack."

Coopers Technology College says it will co-operate fully with any police investigation.

Mr Dilley said: "Our reports were it was a few boys throwing conkers and it was a conker, not a rock, which hit the vehicle.

"We did respond but not in the way he demanded and we do not have any knowledge of him being verbally abused."

He added: "It is not our custom for our children to attack people.

"Children can be rude but we do not encourage it.

"If we are contacted by the police we will co-operate fully."
