THE Poppy Appeal in Bromley raised more than £160,000 during November’s fundraising effort.

During November volunteers across the borough took to the streets with collection boxes to raise money for the Poppy Appeal, which provides help and support for service and ex-servicemen and women and their families.

The collection in Bromley, which is organised by the Royal British Legion [RBL], managed to raise £160,383.47 to help the cause.

Bromley Poppy Appeal organiser Peter Doig said: “We would like to thank all those who have shown their support for the Poppy Appeal 2011.

“The Legion assists more than 160,000 members of the armed forces family - serving, ex-service and their dependants, at a total cost of more than £1.4m a week, or over £200,000 a day.”
