A WATCHDOG has set out how it will investigate a police chase that led to the death of a man in a car crash.
At around 11.20pm on January 13, an unmarked police vehicle pursued two cars which officers claimed were speeding in Samos Road, Penge.
One vehicle was lost but an attempt was made to stop the other, a Mini being driven by a man in Lennard Road.
The Mini drove off and shortly afterwards crashed into another vehicle after the junction with Kent House Road.
The driver, aged 20, was taken to hospital where he subsequently died.
Among the areas to be examined, the Independent Police Complaints Commission will be looking at the Met Police'smanagement of the chase and officers' communications during the pursuit.
IPCC commissioner Mike Franklin said: "It is my duty to ensure our independent investigation focuses on the Met's management of the police pursuit, conducted by the command and control centre, which had responsibility for controlling the incident."
