NINETEEN cars have been seized and three people arrested in Bromley during a Met-wide operation to target criminals driving around the capital.

The fifth Operation Cubo brought in the highest number of arrests and vehicle seizures so far with more than 150 arrests and 563 cars seized in the city.

Police began the 30 hour operation at 10pm Wednesday (February 1) and ran until 6am this morning.

In Bromley the officers were supported by traffic, territorial support group, safer transport command and other teams and used automatic number plate technology (ANPR) to identify vehicles driven by suspected criminals and uninsured drivers.

Commander Adrian Hanstock, of the Met’s safer transport command, said: "If you are a criminal or someone who drives uninsured or unroadworthy vehicles you're highly likely to be caught through these police operations.

“This is not about randomly stopping cars; it is a demonstration of the Met using intelligent methods to target those criminals and uninsured drivers who disrupt London.

“Throughout the year we'll continue to work to keep London safe and moving by taking more uninsured or dishonest drivers off the roads."
