TWEETERS across the borough have started having online meet ups to talk about local issues.
The “tweet-ups” are a chance for people using the social network Twitter to have conversations about local issues and for businesses to promote themselves.
The tweet-ups started at the end of January, with 36 people taking part in the first one and more than 60 joining in the second.
People from all over the borough joined in, with topics ranging from local events and issues, people asking for recommendations, and people asking for help and advice.
Now participants hope to have a physical meet up in Beckenham next month.
Jon Clarke, the man behind the forum BeckenhamTown.us has been co-ordinating people’s tweets.
He said: “It’s effectively a pub atmosphere, but online. It’s about letting people know what’s going on.
“I think more than 100 people have started using the hashtag in the last nine days and no doubt there will be more as this continues.”
