A GRANDMOTHER left paralysed after being run over in Bromley town centre has spoken of her anger that the driver was never caught.

Police have appealed for information about a man wanted in connection with the incident but no-one has yet been caught.

Carol Bright, 58, was left paralysed from the neck down after she was run over by a van in Churchill Way, Bromley last September.

Mrs Bright, who has two children and four grandchildren, spent 14 months at a specialist spinal unit at Stanmore Hospital in north London before being released two weeks ago.

She said: “After 14 months of being in shock, it has finally worn off. Now I’m angry. He’s walking around and I’m lying here completely paralysed.

“I can’t do anything for myself, I can’t make plans for the future. I can’t do anything.

“It has been very difficult but for the first time in over a year me and my husband have been able to spend a night under the same roof.

It’s a lot better than being in hospital but it’s so different now.”

Mrs Bright has been unable to return to her family home in West Wickham, but is living with her husband in a rented bungalow until they can find a suitable home.

Police are still appealing for information about Alexander Abimbola, who is wanted in connection with an allegation of dangerous driving and insurance offences after he failed to answer police bail.

He is described as black in his late 20s or early 30s. Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Crimewatch anonymously on 0800 55511.
