A POPULAR chippy renowned for its tasty fish has batter-ed its rivals to scoop a prestigious prize.
Mo's Fish and Chips in Crofton Lane, Orpington, became the first shop in London to pick up the Fish and Chip Quality Award.
This followed a thorough assessment by The National Federation of Fish Friers, which represents 8,500 chippys across the UK.
It rewards and promotes shops which demonstrate good quality products and high standards of hygiene, as well as friers who show a high level of competence.
Owner Mohammed Butt, who estimates he serves around 1,000 customers a week, said: “Taste and quality have always come first for us.
“We aim to give the public the best fish and chip experience possible, with everything being cooked to order.”
