AN APPLICATION to demolish and rebuild a school has been refused planning permission.
The proposed scheme at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Primary School in Mitchell Road, Orpington, included a single storey primary school with 42 car parking spaces and nine houses with attached garages.
Bromley Council’s development control committee turned it down due to concerns about overdevelopment on the site, encroachment on the surrounding area and the loss of a school playing field.
The plans were submitted by The Trustees of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Southwark.
An earlier application for the redevelopment of the school and construction of 22 flats was also refused on similar grounds in June last year.
