FARNBOROUGH: John Lubbock's home project launched

A PROJECT to celebrate John Lubbock’s home has been launched thanks to a £44,200 lottery grant.

The aim is to discover more about the history of the High Elms estate from 1808 to 1967, including restoring the listed buildings and training volunteers to gather historical documents as well as oral histories.

Public memory days will be held at the BEECHE centre, High Elms Country Park, Shire Lane, Farnborough, in the spring so people can come and share their memories of the site.

The project to preserve the history of the estate, where the scientist and politician lived in the 1800s, is being run by Bromley Council’s countryside service.

Ten volunteers are wanted to help with Lubbock’s Landscape.
