SUNDRIDGE PARK: Dad pays tribute to train death daughter

THE father of a teenager who died after being hit by a train has paid tribute to his “quirky and humorous” daughter.

Emilie Stammers was killed at Sundridge Park when the 7.30pm Grove Park to Bromley North service was pulling into the station.

Emergency services were called but they could not save the 18-year-old, from Beckenham, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her father Robin said: “It is with the deepest regret that we announce Emilie’s passing away and would like to say how overwhelmed we have been by the kindness shown by so many people at this sad and difficult time.

“Emilie was a sensitive and highly intelligent girl who was studying biology at Imperial University in London.

“She was a quirky and humorous individual, who had some difficulty fitting in with groups of people but had made several deep and lasting friendships.

“As her parents, we are deeply grateful for having had Emilie to share our lives with for the last 18 years. She meant everything to us."

He added: “She will always be loved and missed by her family and friends, as the many messages left on her Facebook site testify.”

British Transport Police officers are preparing a report about the incident for the coroner.

I didn't know her for that long - but Emilie was the kind of girl you didn't forget in a hurry. She was really intelligent and witty and will never be forgotten.

My thoughts are with her family and close friends.

May she rest in peace ****
