YOU could not stop the beat when a West End star came to Charles Darwin School for a dance workshop.

Charlotte Riby, who is one of the actresses who plays Tracy in Hairspray, took children through routines from the musical.

She was invited to the school in Jail Lane, Biggin Hill, because pupils are staging the show in December.

The school’s director of arts Rebecca Kearney said: “It was a privilege for us to have a member of the West End cast visit us.

“We had over 160 pupils audition for our school show and it was very difficult to select a cast of just 80. “Opportunities like this ensure that many more pupils have a chance to take ownership of their school show.“ Ms Riby was booked through agency Theatre Inc and the school has two more workshops with cast members provisionally planned for November.
