GREENWICH AND BROMLEY: Activists banned from office for "racist" three monkeys leaflet

FOUR union activists have been banned from office for three years after distributing a leaflet featuring the three wise monkeys.

Public service union Unison took action against its members, including the Greenwich branch's Onay Kasab and Bromley’s Glenn Kelly, after they produced a leaflet showing the three wise monkeys from a Japanese proverb, with the caption "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil".

The leaflet criticised the union for a lack of debate at its national conference in 2007, but the four were told by union chiefs some people could find the image racially offensive.

At a disciplinary hearing on July 16, Unison’s claims were upheld and the activists were told of their sentence in writing on Friday (July 24).

Mr Kasab said: “It is outrageous and that is the same reaction we are getting from our members.

"We are having to work hard to persuade people to not leave the union at the moment.

"We are encoraging them to stay because that is what we intend to do."

The activists will appeal the union's decision and will stay in office until that appeal is heard.

How the hell do these Morons at Unison HQ, get away with this drivel and their Racist behaviour? The only Racists are the Morons who have come to thi Idiotic decision. I most definitely wii not be a Unison member after this decision.

What a complete (bad) joke. Despite being on the opposite side of the fence politically, any suggestion that Glen Kelly is racist is beyond parody. How ironic is it that a Union Official should now need protection from Labour's vey own politically (in)correct thought Police laws.

He deserves everyone's support at this time.

Hahaha you couldn't make it up, unless I missed the point the leaflet referred to the well known Japanese proverb and did not comment on or refer to any racial group, the only act of racism is the unison chiefs claiming some people would find it offensive, therefore implying certain racial groups resemble monkeys. Classic.

Sorry, but I'm CONFUSED!!!!!
Who put in a complaint of racism? A group of 3 monkeys? In which case were the monkeys upset at being called monkeys, or was the blind one upset for being portrayed as blind, or the deaf one deaf or one without speech.... blah blah blah.....
