POLICE have stopped 208 vehicles over the last month in a bid to crack down on drink and drugs.
Bromley police carried out the tests between June 1 and June 30 in support of the Association of Chief Police Officers’ (ACPO) Summer Drink and Drug Driving Enforcement Campaign.
Of the 208 tests, there were 33 people who failed or refused the tests who were then arrested.
There were 159 of these tests carried out on the roadside, of which there were 27 failure/refusals and 49 tests were carried out after a collision, which resulted in 6 failure/refusals.
Chief inspector Ian Gallehawk, Head of Bromley police's safer neighbourhood teams, said: "There's nothing accidental about drink driving.
“It's a wilful and selfish offence and drink and drug driving wrecks lives, whether that is death, injury, or the loss of a livelihood, driving licence or even imprisonment.”
