BROMLEY: Pixie Lott to record Killers track for War Child charity

FORMER Chislehurst schoolgirl Pixie Lott heads up the line up for the new War Child single.

The 18-year-old is recording I Got Soul, a new rewritten version of the Killers track All These Things I Have Done today (July 6).

Other artists confirmed to attend the recording with the former pupil from the Italia Conti stage school in London and associate school in Chislehurst include N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder, Frankmusik, VV Brown, Kid British, Chipmunk, Mpho, McLean, Ironik, Domino Go and Bashy.

The collective will go by the name of Young Soul Rebels for the track which is being released next month.

Releasing the song was an idea which started at the War Child after-party after the Brit Awards in February.

Coldplay, U2 and Take That joined The Killers on stage for the chorus, chanting “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier” to an audience of 2,000 people.

The next day Bono, from U2, told BBC Radio One “That chant, ‘I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier’, has a whole new meaning when there is a War Child banner behind your head.”

War Child is an international children’s charity that works in some of the world’s most dangerous war zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

It works with musicians to stop youngsters from being involved in wars.

Sir Paul McCartney said: “Imagine an army - if you can call it that - made up mostly of kids aged 13 or even younger.

“They face atrocities so bad that you can just about comprehend them but your brain cannot cope with them emotionally.

“This is happening all over the world right now.

“War Child help rescue children from fighting in these brutal wars.

“Rescuing a lot of these kids and reuniting them with their parents.

“Basically, they try to give these kids a chance of having a childhood like you and I are familiar with. “
