FLOWERS, fruit and vegetables were all on display during a summer show.

The ‘Grow your own’ show was organised by the Biggin Hill and District Horticultural Society and took place at St Mark's Church Hall in Church Road, Biggin Hill, on July 4.

As well as the displays of fruit and vegetables, there was also work on show from pupils of Cudham Primary School in Jail Lane, Biggin Hill and Downe Primary School in High Elms Road, Downe.

The work showed what is being done to encourage young gardeners.

There was also a raffle, tea, cakes and trophies given to gardeners who came top in different categories such as the best exhibit for potatoes.

Treasurer of the society, Betty Oades, said: “While the thunderstorm during the week before the show affected the number of roses on display, the sweet peas were as magnificent as usual, and the scent in the hall was an added pleasure.”
