POLICE have revealed their latest weapons in the fight against people who ride motorised scooters, motorcycles and quad bikes illegally in the borough.
The two off-road Yamaha WR250 bikes will be used by specially trained officers in areas which are inaccessible to patrol cars like parks and grassland.
Both of the motorcyles were funded by the Safer Bromley Partnership which paid £13,000 to purchase, equip and fund their running costs for the next three years.
They will join the Suzuki DR 400 in Bromley police’s off-road fleet.
Sergeant Lee Howes from Bickey safer neighbourhood team said: "Off-road motorbikes are an extremely valuable tool in helping us tackle the antisocial and indeed illegal misuse of motorbikes.
“Thanks to the Safer Bromley Partnership this inconsiderate group of individuals will be targeted by my officers this summer and we will be there seizing bikes.
“This will be welcomed by those members of the public whose lives are being blighted by such behaviour.”
Safer Bromley Partnership chairman Councillor Colin Bloom said: "By funding these bikes, the Partnership is tackling the illegal use of motorcycles and mini-motos head on.
"We know many residents find illegal bikes irritating in their neighbourhood from the many complaints about the noise and the dangerous nature of this pursuit.
"Using this new equipment police will be able to put a stop to this distressing antisocial behaviour much more quickly and efficiently.”
