Woman calls for action on fox menace

THE ROW over urban fox-hunting has been re-ignited by an angry resident.

Animal-lover Sheila Poole, of Victor Close, Chislehurst, says she is “terrified to go out of doors because the foxes just sit there and stare at you”.

She also dismissed claims made by Anne Holmes, from the League Against Cruel Sports, in News Shopper on October 1, who said: “There is no reason to believe incidents are happening often enough to suggest foxes are a real threat.” Mrs Poole says she has every reason to believe the threat is very real.

She said: “Just the other day I had to forcibly remove a fox from a neighbour’s porch. It was trying to get into the house. I dread to think what might have happened had it succeeded.” The 62-year-old, who works with the elderly as an escort, has tried various poisons and pellets in a bid to snuff out the threat, but to no avail.

She said: “I am just sick of the sight of these pests. They are fast becoming a real menace. If I had a gun I would go outside and shoot them myself.” Turn to page 33 for readers’ response as to whether urban fox-hunting should be introduced.
