RESIDENTS at a retirement home are enjoying the chance to visit a new sensory garden.

Elmstead Residential Home, Elmstead Lane, Chislehurst, opened the new garden with the help of nine volunteers, including a team from the Starbucks coffee shop in Bromley town centre.

The green space has been filled with plants and herbs to stimulate residents' senses throughout the year.

Volunteers installed a windmill, flowerbeds, a stone archway and a statue with a grant from healthcare company Bupa.

There is also raised flowerbed to help less flexible residents enjoy the grounds.

Manager Caroline Cheeseman said: "The sensory garden will be of great benefit to residents and will help stimulate their senses and encourage a feel good factor.

"It was a great day, residents' relatives came along and we had a nice party.""

The sensory garden was officially opened on Sunday.
