1:18pm Monday 11th August 2008 in Bromley By Scott Mullins
A PENSIONER was robbed at knife point in broad daylight after valiantly trying to stop a mugger.
The 80-year-old woman was walking through Church House Gardens in Bromley town centre at around 4pm on August 5 when a man attempted to snatch her handbag.
But the brave pensioner refused to give up her possessions and kept hold of the bag until her assailant, in his early 20s, produced a three inch knife.
The victim immediately let go and the 6ft youth wearing a hoodie, dark baseball cap and sunglasses grabbed £70 and 365 euros.
He also swiped the woman's freedom pass and her diary before dumping the bag and running off in the direction of Ethelbert Road.
The woman was uninjured in the attack and Bromley Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery.
The suspect was described as white, of a thin build and wearing light-coloured clothing.
Anyone with information should contact Bromley Police's robbery squad on 020 8284 9969.
