Charity’s scheme working out well after 15 years

A SCHEME which helps people with learning difficulties find employment has celebrated its 15th anniversary.

Jobmatch, which is run by charity Bromley Mencap, gives training and support to those looking for employment and works with employers to provide opportunities.

More than 100 people attended an anniversary celebration at the Old Palace in Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close.

The event also marked the 100th person to have been found a job through the scheme, which is funded by Bromley Council and Jobcentre Plus.

Bromley Mencap chief executive Eddie Lynch said: "Work is something many people take for granted.

"People with a learning disability have the same right to work as everyone else but they find it much harder to get a job due to stigma and discrimination."
