Art project features a bit of Bowie and Blyton

A SCHOOL'S art project has drawn on influences as diverse as Ziggy Stardust and Enid Blyton.

Children from Pickhurst Junior School, in Pickhurst Lane, West Wickham, were invited to create pieces of art relating to the history of Bromley.

Each of the four works, one from each year group in the school, were joined together to form a large poster by freelance artist Honor Pinner.

The project, funded by the Hayes Kent Trust, now takes pride of place in the school hall.

The images included David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust, children's author Enid Blyton, the Crystal Palace on fire, and a contrast of city and country scenes.

Sarah Bevan, Year 6 teacher and art co-ordinator, said: "It is really colourful, it's the first thing you see when you walk in. The children absolutely love it.

"Those involved have been bowled over by it and it has given them real focus and inspiration."
