A FIREFIGHTER has been praised by the Prime Minister for saving a man's life.
Michael Coleman, 27, of Mount View Road, Orpington, was given a Vodafone Life Savers award by Gordon Brown at Downing Street over Christmas.
In November 2006, Mr Coleman, who is based at Tooting fire station, saved the life of a man who was trapped in a fire at his home in Streatham.
Mr Coleman said: "It was an awesome experience. I will remember it for the rest of my life.
"The Prime Minister shook my hand and said how proud he was."
The annual Vodafone Life Savers Awards have been going for six years and celebrate the bravery of people involved in rescues.
