A £1.3m funding package for young people in the borough announced by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone will include £349,000 of new money, according to the council.

Mr Livingstone and children, young people and families minister Beverley Hughes announced the investment for Bromley as part of a £79m funding package for young Londoners.

The cash is an increase of £19m on the Government's initial proposal to provide £60m to allow more activities and services to be offered to young people in the capital.

A Bromley Council spokesman said it had not yet decided how to spend the money.

He said: "It will be there to bolster our strategy and to assist in priority areas."
