A GROUP of people had an arresting time to raise money for a charity which cares for people with life-threatening illnesses.

Bromley police locked up a group dubbed the HospisCare 6 and refused to release them unless each prisoner raised a minimum of £1,000 in sponsorship for Harris HospisCare.

The charity, based in Tregony Road, Orpington, was holding the Jail n' Bail event for the third year running.

It hopes to raise £15,000 this year, compared with the £8,000 collected last year.

One of the prisoners, Jeremy de Maid of JDM estate agents, said: "Having seen the wonderful care Harris HospisCare provided to my parents, I am keen to raise as much money as possible."

The other prisoners were Patrick Wilks from Realistic Photo Graphics; Tony Hayday from Mischief Consulting Ltd; Clare Moore from William Wesson Estate Agents; Ashley Reading of the Sycamore Group and Farnborough and Crofton councillor Tim Stevens.
