Bromley Council is offering witnesses a £500 reward for information about a 40ft articulated trailer which was dumped in Penge.

The trailer was full of rubbish and was found on Oakfield Road and contained no registration details.

Bromley Council say the costs for specialists to remove the huge trailer will be in excess of £20,000.

The monster trailer contained mattresses, construction waste, carpet and other household items.

Kate Lymer, executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, said: “This is an example of where organised crime is making money from fly-tipping.

“Whilst we suspect that rubbish in the trailer has not come from local people, it is a stark reminder to make sure that you should check the credentials of anyone who takes away items you are throwing away.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have information to come forward and help us with our investigation.”

The councillor advised anyone who spots a heavy goods vehicle in suspicious circumstances to inform the police.

A specialist recovery vehicle was used to remove the trailer, which was in poor condition with its damaged rear axle.

News Shopper reported this month how Bromley Council had issued 180 fines to littering offenders since 2017.
