A petrified mum from Chislehurst was attacked by a carjacker outside her home as her toddler sat screaming in the back seat.

Lucy Samuels, 32, had pulled up on her driveway in Chislehurst Road on Friday (May 18) at 11.45am and got out of her car when a man ran towards her.

“He was shouting at me to give him my watch and car keys and I completely panicked,” Lucy said.

“It is a black bracelet watch and I had to unclasp it and pull it over my hand. He was so desperate and he started yanking it. My wrist is all bruised.

“My daughter was still in the car, so I was petrified he would take her if he got the keys. It was frightening.”

Lucy’s daughter, two, was “absolutely hysterical” after hearing her mum cry out for help.

After grabbing the watch, the robber again attempted to reach for the car keys before running off when somebody opened the front door.

Lucy described the suspect as in his early 20s, mixed race with a south London accent and he was wearing a grey tracksuit and baseball cap.

The Chislehurst resident wanted to raise awareness to others about this type of danger.

“You might feel vulnerable when you are out in the dark, but you don't expect this to happen on your own driveway at that time of day," she added.

“The bruises are a constant reminder of what this guy has done. He didn’t know my daughter was in the car, but this whole situation could have been devastating if he had those keys.

"I am trying not to think of what would have happened next. Thankfully he got possession of something that is replaceable.”

Lucy said the police are aware of the incident.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed the incident was being investigated after it was reported at 12.06pm that day.
