Disgruntled shoppers have accused Marks and Spencer of being "disgraceful" after problems with flower deliveries on Mother's Day.

People took to Twitter to complain they were kept in the dark about the delivery of their flowers and then received emails saying their orders had been ‘cancelled’.

While some said they were let down by non-delivery, others posted photos of flowers that did arrive but appeared to be damaged.

One lady said: “Shame the flowers i ordered for my mum never turned up on mothers day..not happy m&s..please sort this out.”

Another said: “@marksandspencer disgraceful.. my mother is very ill and it was the first year I had to spend Mother’s day apart(as i had to work abroad) and wanted to treat her with M&S’ 'beautiful' flowers.. but never arrived....absolutely distraught....disgusting service.”

Lots of people said that they only received the email that their flowers were not going to be delivered at 4pm on Mothering Sunday.

A Marks & Spencers spokeswoman said: “We are disappointed if anyone feels let down and encourage them to contact our customer services team.”

She added: “The vast majority of flowers were delivered on time. However, a very small number of customers had orders postponed, we contacted each customer as soon as possible to offer a full refund and gesture of goodwill.”
