A Crystal Palace fan for 55 years, Stevie "Wolfie" Ware's life changed forever when his heart stopped beating at a game against West Ham.

A season ticket holder for 25 years, Mr Ware was watching the October game intently, just like any other day.

But then tragedy nearly struck.

He suffered a heart attack and his heart stopped beating for almost 15 minutes.

Mr Ware was in trouble, but thankfully for him, help wasn't far away.

Dr Aman Bhandari and the St John Ambulance service saved his life as they worked on him in the stands to keep the blood flowing.

Wolfie has since had triple bypass surgery and recovered well, but he wanted to make sure that those who saved his life weren't forgotten.

At half-time in the Palace-Arsenal game last week (December 28), Mr Ware, accompanied by his wife Joni, sister Hazel and son Greg presented a cheque for £1000 to St. John Ambulance service to thank the staff and medical experts who saved his life.
