A skip in St Mary Cray has been turned into a sleigh for a giant model of Father Christmas.

The festive display in Burrfield Drive was made by fence maker Mark Reynolds, 54.

Mr Reynolds has the skip in his front drive all year because he needs it for his business, ReMARKable Fencing.

He made the whole display for £20, using logs and chicken wire to make the reindeer and the Father Christmas. The Santa suit cost just £2.99 from a bargain shop.

Mr Reynolds said: “I do it just to cheer everyone up at Christmas really. I have had loads of comments on it, from the neighbours and people passing by.

“Everyone loves it. I’ve had load of good comments.

“I think people like it because everyone has a little bit of child in them. Its Christmas! It should be celebrated.”

Mr Reynolds is a third-generation fencer. His grandfather had a business in the area.

Perry Ferrett, 33, lives on Burrfield Drive and says that Mr Reynold’s Christmas display in popular with all the neighbours.

She said: “My kids love it. They can’t wait to go and see it. The shout ‘there’s father Christmas, there’s father Christmas.’

“It’s an actual skip. He’s done it all himself with. He does something every year, although normally it’s a Christmas tree.

“He’ll help anybody out and he tries to encourage happy times at Christmas. He makes a lot of kiddies happy.”
