A man was said to have been "kicked unconscious" in Petts Wood just over an hour after families had enjoyed the local Christmas carnival.

Police were called at 7.42pm on Saturday (November 25) to Station Square, following reports of an ongoing altercation.

A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital with suspected head injuries by London Ambulance Service.

Police say his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

The man, 41, was allegedly attacked outside the Daylight Inn, according to reports on Facebook.

Clare Cook posted: “I hope they catch who ever did this, disgusting.”

Bridget Daly said: “I pray the poor guy recovers from this and they catch the scum who did it to him.”

The Petts Wood Christmas Carnival was held in a number of locations including the Station Square until 6.30pm.

Chairwoman of the Petts Wood Business Association, Paula Ferguson said she was unaware of the fight and that she didn't believe it had any connection with the carnival. She said: “It was a really nice relaxed friendly atmosphere, and everybody seemed to be having a great time. It was very much a family event.”
